Outdoor Network was set up by St Michael’s Church, Dalton to offer adventurous outdoor activities for children, young people and families. Activities include mountaineering, caving, climbing, bush craft, paddle sport and mountain biking. As well as an emphasis on having fun and meeting people the project aims to build resilience, self-reliance, well-being and self-esteem and to encourage a healthy lifestyle. During 2009 Outdoor Network provided opportunities for adventures on 123 separate days and 1290 places were taken up on various pursuits. The grant from the CCF has helped Outdoor Network with day-to-day running costs including equipping and training instructors.
